God desires to build us up through life’s difficulties and equip us for deeper relationship with Him and others.

  • In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.  John 16:33

  • For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.  2 Corinthians 4:17-18

  • No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.  Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.  Hebrews 12:11

  • He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  John 15:2

God desires to restore us to right relationship with Him and to healthy relationships with others.

  • For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

  • The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.  John 10:10

  • Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar...First go and be reconciled to your brother, then come and offer your gift.  Matthew 5:23-24

  • Wives, submit...Husbands, love...Children, obey...Fathers, do not exasperate...bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.  Ephesians 5:22 to 6:4

God desires that we live transparently, authentically, and supportively in community with one another.

  • Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  James 5:16

  • Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat.  When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”  Matthew 9:2

  • If one falls down, his friend can help him up.  But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!  Ecclesiastes 4:10

  • The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”  Matthew 25:40

  • Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is Christ.  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.  Ephesians 4:15-16

God desires for us a lifestyle surrendered to Jesus Christ and saturated with the Word and prayer.

  • Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.  Joshua 1:8
