April 2, 2009 Appearance on Canada's 100 Huntley Street

In 1998, Larry and Lisa Jamieson owned a successful consulting business developing customized training resources for Fortune 500 companies. Their marriage was in renewal after hitting a painful wall then growing through counseling. They were raising two adorable little girls and had a baby on the way. Life was much like the "American Dream."

Then their third daughter, Carly, was born with many challenges. At 2 1/2 years old she was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome — a genetic disorder that dramatically affects all areas of her development. Carly's needs were all-consuming (seizures, a sleep disorder, feeding issues, unusual behaviors). Yet during a critical season of her development, a community came alongside the Jamiesons with a remarkable expression of practical support and prayer. The Jamieson family began experiencing the unexpected with a team of over 60 volunteers, groundbreaking educational resources, and the prayers of hundreds from around the country surrounding them. The direction of Carly's life took a dramatically encouraging turn. And while God was unlocking surprising developmental progress in Carly, many others were experiencing healing as well. Something unusual was unfolding.

In the meantime, their business was faltering from neglect while their careers were taking a back seat under the strain of sleep deprivation and Carly's mounting challenges. Larry and Lisa had been producing training tools for the corporate world yet their first-hand experience of the power in Christ-centered community was fueling their passions to apply creative communication and teaching skills in ministry where lives could be transformed and fully satisfied in Christ. Storytellers at heart, Larry started producing "call-to-worship" and testimony videos while Lisa was involved in the development of church curricula. Both continued teaching Bible Studies, serving on worship teams, and sharing testimonies with church groups.

Out of those experiences and their journey parenting a child with special needs grew a vision for Walk Right In Ministries — an organization equipping and connecting people for growth in faith, obedience, and hope in Jesus Christ particularly through the adverse circumstances of their lives.

Their first book together, Finding Glory in the Thorns, explores how God reveals Himself through crisis. It shares the heartwarming story of those early years parenting Carly in the midst of an unusual expression of a loving community. It is also a practical Biblical tool helping readers navigate issues of faith, hope, joy and sharing.  The companion Group Discussion Guide is now available as well.

The Jamieson's story has been featured internationally on television and radio programs including “Words to Live By,” “100 Huntley Street” in Canada, and My Refuge Radio in Belize.

More than ever, Larry and Lisa find exciting hope and eternal purpose in sharing the stories of how people are discovering Jesus and Christ-centered community on their journeys, especially when the road is rough and the destination seems unclear.
