I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” EPHESIANS 3:14-19

    "…to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…" When I'm feeling swamped by life, I like to find a few moments to be still, ideally in God's creation, and think about all the ways Christ shows me his love. I'm not sure that with our finite understanding we'll ever truly be able to grasp just how deep his love for us is, but setting aside time to reflect on it always strengthens me and helps me regain perspective.     I like to do that too, Sandra. Slowing down to reflect more deeply on the holiness of God and all the ways God is so mighty through creation always bring me a sense of His power and nearness to me — the two things about God that most profoundly give me a sense of rest. We've been in a flurry at our house for a couple of weeks preparing for Alex's graduation and so those slow-down-and-reflect moments have mostly been while reviewing video footage from the last 18 years of her life. Looking at THAT kind of God's creation (rather than the sky, a lake or a meadow) has gripped me yet again in the awesomeness of God. Reflecting on His faithfulness to Alex all these years (and to us, her parents) gives me both joy and a sense of rest. I LOVE THAT!
