How to Get Started

After you complete the Interest Form, we will contact you to schedule an appointment (telephone or Zoom). During that appointment, we will listen carefully to your story and begin to understand your needs, questions, and hopes. Typically during this time, we are able to answer basic questions that you have about resources and help you make some initial connections (e.g., a disability-friendly church in your area).

Depending on your needs and goals, we may walk with you or your family for a single appointment or for a season.

We understand that families touched by disability are often stretched financially. When you connect with us to pursue a training, counseling or discipleship relationship, we can offer a sliding-fee guide and Pay-As-You’re-Able policy. People only pay what they are able to pay. NO ONE EVER gets turned away.

Our partnership with you can begin now! Simply fill out the Interest Form below and we’ll contact with you to arrange next steps.

FAQs

These are some Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question not addressed below, you can contact us.

Q: I'm a new client. What do I need to know?

A: Our aim at WRIM is to help caregivers in families living with disability or special needs to find encouragement and hope, build wellness, connect with others who understand the road they are on, cultivate robust supports, experience resilience, and grow.

All new clients begin by completing a questionnaire that generates the “APS Report.” The Arno Profile System (APS) is a faith-based tool helping you and your support team understand how you are uniquely created with strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities to fulfill your life purpose, even as it includes caregiving. The APS helps cover a lot of ground quickly to get to the heart of what you’re dealing with faster.

Based on your interests and needs, you will meet with an APS-certified mentor, coach, or counselor. All WRIM discipleship team members utilize the amazing APS tool as a foundational guide.

When you schedule an appointment, you will be asked to provide the names and emails of everyone who will attend training or counseling with you. Each person will be emailed an individual link to complete the questionnaire online, which can be completed in less than 10 minutes.

The cost of each Temperament Profile is $55 and is a one-time fee.

Q: Why does Walk Right In Ministries use temperament in our training, coaching, and counseling model?

A: The temperament model, based on the Arno Profile System (APS), offers a credible alternative to counseling/coaching techniques currently available in the Christian community. The APS is also the therapeutic model of the National Christian Counsellors Association and Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling.

All Walk Right In Ministries trainers, coaches, and counselors are “APS certified” by completing the Creation Therapy course. Creation Therapy helps people understand whom God created them to be and teaches accountability for each individual’s actions.

The APS is a faith-based approach to human behavior that assists people in achieving long-term emotional and spiritual well-being. The APS report is unlike other measurements of behavior. The APS describes a person’s inborn temperament with an accuracy rate of over 90%.

The WRIM discipleship team helps family caregivers apply the APS in the context of their caregiving role in the family impacted by disability or other special needs. It can be a powerful tool in helping caregivers understand how they are uniquely suited for their role, recognize behavior patterns of each temperament, develop and maintain positive relationships, and be empowered to serve from their own “sweet spots.”

Q: How long is a session?

A: Sessions are typically 60 to 75 minutes.

If you would like a longer session, you can email us to make arrangements.

Q: What is the cost for counseling?

A: The standard rate for an hour-long session is $125. However, no person or family is ever turned away based on ability to pay.

Walk Right In Ministries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with donor support that enables us to offer a pay-as-you’re-able policy. If the session fee is prohibitive for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us and request a copy of our sliding fee guide. We are grateful for the opportunity to be generous with scholarships.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: Walk Right In Ministries does not take any insurance. However, we offer a pay-as-you’re-able policy. Also, some people are able to pay with FSA accounts, either by using a debit card connected to the account or submitting the receipt for reimbursement.

Q: Do you see kids under 18?

A: If the child is under the age of 18, most parents choose to review their child’s profile with Lisa Jamieson, WRIM’s Director of Care & Community, without the child present. Then you can discuss whether you would like to include the child in future sessions.

A child must be at least 7 years old to complete the profile.
